The Stier Family • Our Year So Far

GREETINGS FROM THE STIER FAMILY!

We wanted to start a newsletter to share updates from the Twilight, Mississippi River, our family, and beyond! Since this is our first edition, we thought it might be fitting to introduce ourselves.

The Twilight has been owned and operated by the Stier family –Kevin, Carrie, Emily and Jacob — since 2006. Cheers to 20 years! Kevin and Carrie have been working for the company since their early 20s; Emily and Jacob grew up on the river alongside their parents. Today they each have their own role in making sure operations stay afloat!

Kevin is the co-owner and captain of the Twilight. He brings over 40 years of experience on the Mississippi. He is known for his storytelling, love for unique artifacts, and taking wild adventures.

Carrie is the co-owner of the Twilight. Carrie has been with the Twilight since the beginning and has seen the ups, downs, and in-betweens of the riverboat industry. Carrie enjoys cosplay, working in her she-shed, and a good dinner party.

Emily oversees the social media and group sales for the Twilight. She grew up on the river and worked in the gift shop, galley, and in the dining room. Emily loves traveling, crafting like someone twice her age, and watching trash TV.
Jacob is another captain on the Twilight. Like his sister, he has been working on the river since his early teens. Jacob spends his time reading epic fantasy novels, consuming too much hot sauce, and watching as many movies as possible.

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO

The start of the year brought some new adventures both personally and professionally.

In January, Emily traveled to the American Bus Association annual conference in Reno to meet with prospective group travelers. The day after she returned, she hopped on a plane with her husband and Captain Kevin to vacation in Turkey for two weeks!

Jacob and his wife, Emilee, also did some traveling. They spent the beginning of February exploring Toyko and came home with a suitcase full of souvenirs!.

Carrie has been working on creating and perfecting her costume and props for an upcoming cosplay convention. She’s very crafty!.

This is the time of year when we start checking with our partners at the museum, hotels, tourism organizations, and more to ensure smooth sailing when we kick-off our season come Memorial Day Weekend. Preseason will begin before we know it , so stay tuned!
